Rockrider Feel 900 S and Feel Team Edition S

On the Feel side, only one platform is on the program for the moment but not the least. Available in 900 or Team Edition version (the S for all-suspensions at Rockrider), the all-suspension Feel S is a 29′′ trail bike with an all-carbon frame that develops 130 mm of travel at the rear and 140 mm at the front.

The program is already enticing and becomes even more so when you look at geometry: no more cautious or even conservative odds, the Feel S is all the most modern! Steering angle at 65°, reach at 450 mm in size M and 475 mm in size L, bases of 435 mm and seat tube angle at 76°, the bike has something to seduce on paper.

Among other words, it is high enough at the beginning for comfort and not too progressive to remain accessible, an important marker of the brand identity. The anti-squat evolves between 115% and 60%, with a very neutral value of 103% at the sag to offer a good grip on pedaling without sacrificing dynamism.

Rockrider Race 720

Aimed mainly at athletes, the Rockrider Race family is growing and hosting Race 720. Little brother of the Race 740 model that we tested recently, it wants to be even more accessible - both in terms of price and behavior!

decathlon-rockrider-2023-2022-vojo-paul-Unlike his older brother, the frame here is entirely made of aluminum. It takes up the visual codes of the Race family, and even allows itself a small dedication to the high-end Race 900 on the hoppers with this characteristic brake. For our greatest pleasure, the small visual details that we liked our race 740 test can also be found on this version. On the scale, the bike is advertised at about 12.3 kg in size M.

Rockrider has opted for a modernized and more aggressive geometry than its predecessor the XC 500, including a shorter steering socket. An evolution that the French brand can afford since it expands its offer, especially with the Expl range (see below) more focused on hiking.

It should be noted that Rockrider has opted for a longer reach combined with a shorter stem to strengthen the sporty/performance side of this bike.

The bike is mounted with a Manitou Machete fork in 100 mm travel, a Sram NX Eagle transmission, Promax brakes with 160 mm discs. There are also a pair of Sun Ringlé wheels with a tire set specific to Rockrider: the Fast 500. If we already knew the range of Grip tires at Rockrider, the Fast are intended for XC use and will soon be available in a higher-end version (Fast 900) with two types of carcasses, light or reinforced. The peripherals, made of aluminum, are signed Rockrider.

Rockrider Expl 700

As explained in the introduction, the Rockrider range has a new Explore family that, unlike the Race category, is aimed at more occasional XC/hiking practitioners looking for a comfortable and reliable bike. If we knew until now the Expl 500, 520 and 540 (formerly ST-500, 520 and 540), Rockrider now presents the Expl 700.

In recent years, bikepacking has become particularly popular and attracts more and more practitioners. Rockrider intends to offer a gateway to this practice to an even wider audience. The French brand has thus imagined a mountain bike focused on comfort and safety (even with a loaded bike) for long-distance trips, such as touring or bikepacking.

decathlon-rockrider-2023-2022-vojo-paul-Rockrider has implemented several solutions to maximize the overall comfort of this model. The main point she bet on is a 27.5′′+ train (22.6′′ tires). We also notice "ergonomic" handles, with palm-rest flats. Like the Race 720, we find a hanger with a larger backsweep (12°).

Among the details that deserve a look, there is still a passage of the "camouflé" sheaths under the bottom of the diagonal tube and a mudguard directly integrated into this same diagonal tube. In addition, the brand opted for an almost raw finish, simply covering the aluminum with a layer of varnish. It's pretty and above all, it allows the scratches to show less easily, which end irretrievably by leaving the regular use of bags.

On the equipment side, the bike is mounted with a Rockshox Recon Gold fork in 120 mm travel, an 11-speed Shimano Deore transmission coupled to a 30-tooth board, and a pair of Sun Ringlé wheels with Vittoria Agarro tires. As with most of the brand's bikes, the peripherals are made of aluminum and from the house.

There is one point Rockrider wanted to insist on: braking! Bikepacking is synonymous with a bike loaded with bags and unusually distributed weights, it is with this idea in mind that Rockrider has equipped its Expl 700 with brakes that are more powerful than the rest of its range. Shimano was chosen to meet this mission, with its MT500s associated with 180/160mm discs.

A test before further developing this segment? Rockrider does not give any definitive rates because the brand may still be subject to price increases at some of its suppliers, but it hopes to maintain a price around €999!

Rockrider E-Expl family

The Expl offer is also the only one entitled to electrification, with the E-Expl models. With a "whiking bike DNA" as we are explained, these 5 bikes want to be above all easy and comfortable. Two semi-rigid and three all-suspension, all in 29′′, make up the range with rates that should range (unless last-minute surprises) between €2,000 and €3,500.

"Based on" and not "equipped with" because Rockrider has developed its own electronic board for engine management, in order to offer the same sensations throughout its range despite the use of three different engines.

Signed Rockrider, the battery has a capacity of 500 Wh and is removable from the left side of the diagonal tube rather than from the bottom, to simplify the operation as much as possible. It is unlocked with a simple hexagonal key (mounting a key lock remains possible).

A notch above, the E-Expl 700 benefits from a Brose T engine (70 Nm of torque) and a 630 Wh battery, still designed by Decathlon. The equipment is also a little more flattering, with an X-Fusion RC32 fork instead of the SR Suntour XCM and a Shimano Deore LinkGlide transmission (the more solid version and adapted to the e-bike) rather than a MicroShift Acolyte.

geo-rockrider-e-expl-700.pngDespite a very accessible positioning, these two mounts benefit from a completely decent geometry with a direction angle of 66.5°, a reach of 439 mm in size M (464 mm in size L) and bases of 460 mm that should bring stability and safety.

Very close to the semi-rigid E-Expl 500 both on the travel (130 mm) and the equipment or electronics (500 Wh battery), it nevertheless swaps the Yamaha PW-CE engine for a Brose C (50 Nm of torque too). Note that on this model, the suspensions (SR Suntour XCM and X-Fusion O2) do not have a bounce setting. Rockrider chose simplicity and defined two settings internally, one for sizes S and M (pilot from 50 to 80 kg) and the other for sizes L and XL (driver from 70 to 120 kg).

Finally, the E-Expl 520 S and 700 S are for the most adventurous, those who will venture on mountain trails and trails rather than on the hills. Here, we go in 140 mm of travel in front of what has the effect of straightening the geometry a little, and in Brose T engine for a little more power.

By the way, it is impossible not to notice the seal that protects the said batteries. Although it is not very discreet, it is nevertheless very useful to best protect the inside of the diagonal tube from water and mud infiltration, especially during washing.

When installed, the system alternately discharges the main battery and this Range Extender so as to keep a high voltage in both tanks for as long as possible, ensuring better engine operation.

Also on electronics, the five bikes take advantage of the Ergo 900 screen in color and with remote control, something rare enough at this price level to be mentioned. The control also has a button that allows you to switch to Boost mode regardless of the mode in which you are while you hold the pressure on it, so that you can react more easily in the event of an unexpected technical section. When you release the button, you return to the original mode.

Zgadzam się. Fajna ta nowa seria zastępująca am. Ciekawe jaka cena. Bo tutaj nic nie napisali poza Two models are planned, a 900 that should be very accessible(…) and a much higher-end Team Edition 

Aluminowy race 720 tez mi sie podoba. Wewnętrzne prowadzenie linek, poprawiona geometria , miejsce na dropper. 
 

szkoda tylko, ze przez słabnąca złotówkę rowery te pewnie będą sporo droższe niz w latach 2021-2022

Po pierwsze musi być kupiec, który da dobrą cenę. Mi się świeżą Rebę A9 udało sprzedać za 1350zł.
Po drugie SID musi być dostępny.
Po trzecie fajnie zachować gwarancję na rower jako całość.

Chargery do reby są dostępne z półki, a przy ewentualnej sprzedaży roweru chargera można wyjąć i opchnąć osobno 😉
